White and Black People Meet Washington DC

I have been reading some complaints about the Black People Meet Washington DC events that have been going on around here lately.  It seems as though the majority of people who are attending these meetups are Caucasians.  I assume that this is because the majority of the people who live in the Washington, D.C. area are Caucasian.

Also, when I read or see "interracial speed dating", I automatically think of meeting black people.  This is mostly in part that I am white, so I think of meeting someone of the opposite race.  Then, I probably think about meeting Asian people, or another race.  Obviously, when an African American reads the interracial title, they think of meeting Caucasian people.

The fact that more African Americans are signing up for these events than other races could be due to the fact that they are the race that is more open to and interested in dating people of another race.  It is a fact that the Interracial and Black People Meet Washington DC events have more black attendees than the events without those words in the title.

No organization can legally screen people's races or turn people away from their events because of their race.  That is discrimination, and it is illegal.  On top of that, is it straight up rude.  Plus, it is more beneficial to the meaning of the organization and the point of the event to open the doors to not only black and interracial people, but to those who are interested in meeting and dating interracial or black people as well.

I have a suggestion for people who complain about there being too many black or white people at certain events based on the trends that our events have seen in the past.  If the problem is that you want to meet more African American people than Caucasians, you should attend an Interracial or Black People Meet Washington DC event; more blacks are likely to go to those titles of events.  If you are more interested in meeting white people, you should attend any other event besides a specifically black or interracial event.  Whites are less likely to go to those types of events where the words "black" or "interracial" are mentioned in the title.
