Gay Dating Washington DC really helped me come out of the closet to my friends and family. I grew up in a really small town in Kansas that had a population of 318. Surrounding my town was nothing but farmland. The closest gay bar was about a hundred miles away in Kansas City. I was always afraid to go there because I feared running into someone I knew from my town that might not be able to keep their mouths shut about seeing me there. If my parents, who think gay people are "freaks," ever found out about me, I was sure I'd be kicked out of the house.

I posted a profile and pictures and waited to see what would happen. Within one day I received six emails. As I continued to correspond with each man I finally agreed to meet with just one. His picture really attracted me to him, as did our phone conversations.

After spending a lot of time with him I finally told my parents I was gay. Much to my surprise they took it better than expected. They may never fully accept it but I am their son and I know they'll always welcome me into their homes and hearts.
