You cheated on your other half, What do you need to do?

When you cheated on your spouse, you have to come clean about it. If you didn't do this, then you are only going to give yourself a burden and it might be an unconscious stressor on the partnership. But you must handle it and you're going to have to cope with the consequences of your actions.

You should be honest about the affair though and you should accept your wife/husband's reaction to it. You are likely to need to give your other half time to process what went on. Respect these and you are likely to have to give your partner time to work your difficulties out. Let them work out their feelings for what is going on, allow them to show their anger or hurt. Just let them know that you are incredibly sorry and that you really want to work on your relationship.

When your other half starts to come to terms with what is going on. You should suggest counseling. They may say no at first, but you must ask them to reconsider.

When divorce seems to be the only option that your other half is entertaining, ask them to reconsider. Ask them to consider finding a way to stop divorce and that they ought to reconsider as divorce is something that is too crucial to give away.
