Marriage, How to stop the fighting?

When you get married, you really need to understand that arguments and fights are going to be a component of it, but if it gets to that point where it becomes so destructive, it can lead to the end of the marriage. If you feel that you and your companion are only fighting too much or too hard, you will need to do something about it and you really have to do it now. If you don't one can end up losing the relationship all at once.

08.08.2011 Houston, TX - Alexander Smith shares that he and his spouse of 8 years were having some marriage problems a few years into the relationship. "We were just fighting so hard and it looked as if it would be really the only thing every day, all day. As things progressed I at last came to the understanding that the fights didn't mean anything anymore, that we were just retaliating, and neither one of us was backing down. I opened myself up to actively putting a stop to this series and when I did, things did get better." Fights are an extremely big part of any marriage and they may be just about anything one can think of. What you really need to understand is that it doesn't mean that only because you and your spouse have had a fight or have had a bunch of fights that your marriage is just going to end. Like with anything, it is reliant on how you control it. If you allow it to end or if you let the fighting take up every aspect of the relationship, then yes you are bound for divorce. This does not need to be this way though, you could still learn some skills on how to save a marriage, but will take some joint effort.

Couples who find themselves in a string of fights are most certainly in a series of harm and retribution. If you and your husband or wife fight over something that has harm you, your response would almost definitely be of retribution. Your reaction to the harm would be to hurt your husband or wife back, an unkind comment is going to be countered by another, this hurts your husband or wife and they hit back, it is a cycle that keeps on going until one of your stops it by leaving or by being the larger person.

You may be that bigger person and save your marriage. If your partner hurts you, the best that you can do is to just swallow your pride and to keep yourself from fighting back. As an alternative you should allow room for talking things over. This will be the only way that one can find some reprieve from the fighting so you could find happiness as a couple.

You can stop the fighting by taking the higher ground; one can discover how to save a marriage. Granted it might be difficult to shrug off your pride sometimes but if you actually love your companion and if you value the relationship, it will be really worth it in the end. You need to create that point where you and your husband or wife feel that you could talk to each other without having it end in a fight. You will really need to remember that you're not the only one hurting here, your other half is too and so do the two of you a favor and you do really have to set off communicating.
