Life As We Know It

Life as we know it never changes. We happily coast along with our own little lives content to settle for whatever life throws at us. Our Equilibrium can sometimes be disrupted when we meet someone who gives us the feeling of uncertainty. We can let a partner into our lives without too much disruption but there is always a degree of adjustment when it comes to meeting someone new.

The quiet nights in watching the television after work can go missing. The days in which we go to the gym and play tennis with the guys from work can all take a spell on the top shelf when a new partner comes into our life. If a relationship comes into the period where you begin to feel like you could move in together that is when the real adjustment has to take place.

The life we are so comfortable with can be heavily disrupted by the smell of scented candles, and the coffee table has mysteriously moved out of reaching distance for our feet from the sofa. We no longer have beers in the fridge and the pizza boxes have taken themselves out to the dustbin.

At times it can be hard to decide whose place you move into. If you both have a place of your own then it can be best sometimes to move into somewhere completely different. That way the property becomes neutral and you both have a share in what goes on in your own home.

We are creatures of habit and there is an undoubtedly big shift in your ability to fulfil these habitual routines when someone intrudes on your life. But if you have made the decision to move in with someone then you need to make these adjustments in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.

It can be a stressful time for both of you when you are beginning to adjust to each other's different ways. But there are no easy ways into it or quick fixes so it is imperative that you take things easy with each other and don't rush into moving in with each other.

The life as you knew it may be over but you have a new exciting life to begin your ways and you will be able to build a new life with your partner. Adjustment is hard but the rewards are worth it.
