You always believed that you and your girlfriend made the perfect pair. She's brought amazing things to your life and you're at a point now where you see how you two balance one another and how she's definitely the woman you want to move forward towards a long and happy committed future with. That's all wonderful until the day she decides to throw a wrench into your ideal relationship. When your girlfriend suddenly declares that she thinks you could do better than her what exactly are you supposed to make of that? If you've been asking yourself the question "she says I'm too good for her, what does that mean" you have to face some cold, hard truths or your relationship is soon going to be a bitter piece of your past.
If your girlfriend says you're too good for her, don't jump to the conclusion that she meant it as a compliment. She may try and present it that way but that's not necessarily the place it's coming from within her. Many women are incredibly compassionate by nature and because of that they'll do everything within their power not to intentionally hurt another human being. If your girlfriend has felt her feelings for you shifting, telling you that you deserve better than her may actually be her way of disengaging emotionally from you. This may actually be the beginning of the end of the two of you as a couple.
You really need to pay close attention to her actions as well as her words. If she seems to be spending less and less time with you, that's a huge red flag that she's losing interest fast. That combined with her declaration that she thinks you need someone better should suggest to you that she's hoping that you'll find someone else to spend your time with.
Sadly some women will also cryptically say that they believe their man could find someone better than them because the woman has done something to tarnish herself in his eyes. Perhaps she's come to the realization that she's too clingy or maybe she's feeling there is just too much conflict within the relationship. Unfortunately, sometimes a woman will also suggest that her boyfriend could do better if she's already interested in another man. In her mind, if he finds someone else too, she won't feel nearly as bad when she breaks up with him.
Although it's virtually impossible to know for certain what your girlfriend means when she tells you that you're too good for her, don't ignore any warning signs that suggest that she's saying it as a sign that she's pulling back. Although some break ups are inevitable, in many cases if you notice the cracks in the connection before they become unmanageable, you can repair your relationship and get her feeling that she's irreplaceable in your heart again.
